FAQs

When is it appropriate to schedule a virtual visit?

Virtual visits are appropriate for a variety of care needs, including urgent care, routine follow-up visits, chronic disease management, medication management, reviewing test or lab results, and lifestyle coaching. Common illnesses can be treated virtually, including sinus problems, respiratory infections, allergies, cold and flu symptoms, and many other non-emergency illnesses. Contact your doctor to understand how virtual visits will work best for you.

What do I need for a virtual visit?

To have a good experience, you need a device with a webcam, microphone and good internet like a laptop, phone or tablet. It’s best to use Google Chrome on a laptop or desktop computer. If you’re using a phone or tablet, get the myPrivia app from either the Apple or Google Play app store.

What can I expect during my visit?

Before your appointment, you’ll receive a message to complete the necessary check-in steps. You’ll need to complete the check-in before you can go ahead with your visit.

  1. Click on “Start My Check-In” which you’ll find in the reminder email to get started. The check-in process will require you to check your technology, provide your consent, confirm your insurance information, and pay your copay.
  2. Once you’ve completed the check-in, you’re ready for your visit. If your visit is starting soon, you’ll go directly into a virtual waiting room; otherwise, you’ll receive an email with a link to join your appointment.
  3. Ten minutes prior to your scheduled visit, click on “Start My Virtual Visit”. You will be placed in a virtual waiting room until your provider is available. An alert will sound, and the “Join Visit” button will become visible when your provider is ready.

Once connected, you’ll be able to talk to your provider. Afterwards, you both will end the virtual visit and any next steps will be recorded in your medical record. You’ll also be asked to fill out a survey about your experience.

How much does it cost?

Your insurance probably covers virtual doctor visits just like regular visits, but it’s a good idea to ask your insurance company to be sure. Before the visit, you will get an email with a link to a secure website where you can check in. During the check-in, we will ask you to pay the normal copay. We will then submit a claim to your insurance company for payment. If your insurance doesn’t cover the service, we can work out a payment plan that is affordable for you.

Visit Troubleshooting

I am having trouble seeing or hearing my provider

To join the meeting, you need a gadget with a webcam, microphone, and reliable internet – like a laptop, phone, or tablet. Google Chrome is the best option if you use a computer or laptop. Or, you may download the healow app from the Apple or Google Play store if you’re using a phone or tablet. When you connect, your device may ask for approval to use the webcam and microphone – if it does, permit it.

The video quality is poor or connection is dropping

If your video is blurry during a virtual doctor’s visit, it might be because your internet is too slow. You need at least 20 mbps internet speed. You can test your speed by going to speedtest.net and clicking Go. If your speed is below 20 mbps and you’re using wifi, try plugging in an Ethernet cable or restarting your internet router.

I never received a message for my visit

We will send a text or email to the account you have on file with our office. Be sure to complete the check in steps as prompted by the email. If you cannot locate your email contact our office and we will be able to send you another virtual visit link.

I am unable to join my virtual visit

Once we are ready to see you the “Join Visit” button will become active and you will hear a chime. You can then click on the button and connect through the virtual visit platform. As health care providers we try our best to stay on time but in some cases we do run late. We appreciate your patience and will try to see you as soon as possible.

Who can I contact for help?

Please review the common issues outlined above. If this information does not address your needs reach out to our office. We will do our best to help address any issues in advance of your visit.
